The principal entry of each work is under the author's name, to which the size of the book, the place and date of publication, and, where necessary, the edition are added. Under this head each book of an author is arranged according to the date of publication, whether stated on its title-page, or obtained from the contents, or from other sources. When more than one author's name appears on the title-page, the author of the text is considered as the chief author and there is a cross - reference from the others.
