A facsimile edition of Nikolaus Pevsner's 1945 King Penguin book with a new introduction by Gillian Darley. The Leaves of Southwell is an analysis of the architectural and historical significance and context of many of the carved leaves to be found on the Minster capitals. The book combines "astonishingly vivid observation informed by a wide understanding of medieval European thinking," and includes more than fifty black and white photographs taken by Frederick Attenborough.
