The purity of the social and family life of the Latter-day Saints is evidenced in many directions. Their birth rate is nearly one third greater than that of leading civilized nations of the world, as listed by the League of Nations in its annual health book. According to the United States census report on Marriage and Divorce, marriages among the Mormon people are 32 per cent. Higher than in the whole of the United States. Adultery is given as the cause of per cent. Of the total number of divorces, according to the same authority; the percentage for Utah was only 1 per cent. Convictions for sex crime is another index of the sex morals of a people. In this respect the Latter-day Saints have a very enviable record, for Utah ranks the lowest with per population. Insanity, much of which is caused by domestic infidelity, is lower among the Latter-day Saints than any other civilized nation of the world.
