Publisher's Synopsis

Excerpt from The Latter-Day Saints' Millennial Star, Vol. 73: December 7, 1911

It might be argued by some that tithing was one of the laws of Moses, which was superseded by the law of Christ. But the Savior endorsed the payment of tithes, and declared that it should not be left undone. These are His words Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone. (matt. 23: Tithing is an essential law of God, and it will remain in the Church of Christ until it is superseded by the higher law - the law of Consecration. Until the saints of God are able to live this higher law, the law of tithing is necessary for the temporal welfare of the Church, caring for the poor, etc.
