It wasn't his idea to pull the trigger. Now Dave feels like he is running away from something; not towards something better. He just needs to hide for a while until things calm down. Then a new life, maybe a better one. A life he wished for and she didn't. She is fading out of the picture.
What he is about to get involved with is bigger than he can imagine. It will challenge his preconceptions about life, women and his sense of justice. Circumstances outside of his control batter him, leaving him tattered. Once again he will play a role in a plan concocted by someone else.
