Publisher's Synopsis
A delightful children's (six to ten year old ) story book set in the beautiful ancient land of Hibernia with commissioned hand painted graphics by Dugg Batchelor.
In the ancient land of Hibernia there lived lots of friendly people. Mostly they were happy and lived in Kingdoms which were often very small and had only two hundred or so families. Our story is about one such Kingdom, the Kingdom of Yellow Meadows. The King's name was King Fitzpatrick and for short he was called King Fitz. Now King Fitz was different from the other Kings because he had the gift of the winds. Not many people know that each wind is a different colour, but with his gift, King Fitz could see colour and from it he knew what kind of day it was going to be.
Good morning my dear friends, I hope you all slept well. As I have so much to tell you about our plans for the summer holidays I have printed the message and put it on the palace gates. Well as soon as the children heard this they gave a big cheer, for although our story is about a long time ago even then boys and girls loved school holidays. "Also" said the King "the wind today will be pink which means of course that you will all have a big surprise."
At last the day came for the visitors to arrive. Everyone in Yellow Meadows who had a boat got it ready on the River Shannon and paddled upstream to meet the visitors from the Brown Mountain Kingdom. They were all happy and warmly greeted each other and became great friends. Blue and pink coloured ducks and red swans swam alongside the boats and everyone was singing as they made their way down river.
Two weeks of exciting sports, hurley and camogie, boat races, campouts and adventure, sprinkledwith a little romance, was brought to a close with a barn dance. Maried and Sean announced they were going to get married. Great excitement followed this announcement and immediate plans were made for another visit from the Brown Mountain Kingdom for the wedding.
