Publisher's Synopsis
Key Skills are now established as an essential aspect of all students' learning - and yet the way in which these can be taught and developed often remains a mystery. This book provides a unique way of putting across everything needed to achieve Level 2 or 3 in all of the six Key Skill areas. The theme of Health and Safety has been chosen to reflect the importance of knowledge in this area for a wide range of students, particularly those on vocational courses. Instead of overtly working on different Key Skills at different times, students progressing through this project are able to demonstrate their abilities in a more integrated way and to recognise the importance of Key Skills in the 'real' world. - - The Key Skills Assignment is divided into a series of tasks for students to complete; in doing so successfully they will illustrate, de facto, their attainment of Levels 2 or 3. The main tasks deal with: research, surveys and reports; analysis, interpretation and calculation; and learning, presentation and evaluation. Instructions for the tutor are provided throughout, together with templates of sample forms and scenarios for students to work upon. Importantly these scenarios are also presented on the disk accompanying the book along with data sheets with a random function, allowing tutors to create unique data sets for each student (and thereby ensuring the validity of the results). At a time when pressure on tutors (and students) to deliver tangible proof of Key Skills attainment is constantly increasing, this book is destined to become an essential tool.
