Daniel Smith had only known life on the family farm, which he has grown tired of. But a call on Memorial Day 1982 from a friend of his father, Tony Westfield, changes the eighteen-year-old's life. He heads to Southern California for a brief working vacation.
Soon Daniel is seduced by the relaxed environment of Manhattan Beach after only having spent a few days in the coastal town. And to his surprise, Tony Westfield offers him a job to stay longer in the Golden State.
Eventually Daniel finds himself at a crossroads. Is Daniel destined to become a permanent Angeleno, or to return to his family and the farm?
