Publisher's Synopsis

Differentiated book- It has a historical context with research of the timeMr. Jack Worthing has invented a younger brother, of very bad living, called Ernest. With the excuse of going to control this fictional brother, Jack periodically goes to London, pretends to be Ernest to have fun and leave aside the serious and responsible aspect that his work (is a lawyer) and his duties (he is the tutor of an 18 year old girl) they demand. London arrives to propose to Gwendolyn Fairfax, cousin sister of his best friend, Algernon Moncrieff (who in turn has invented a friend Bunbury, chronically ill who has to go see every time a commitment arises that he does not have fun ). As Gwendolyn is only interested in marrying someone named Ernest, Jack decides that it is time to clarify the situation by saying that his brother Ernest is dead, and baptize himself as Ernest.Meanwhile, Algernon goes to Jack's camp to meet Ms. Cecily Cardew, under the tutelage of her friend, and pretends to be Ernest. Not knowing that Algernon is present, Jack arrives at his country house and announces that his brother Ernest has died. Gwendolyn arrives looking for Ernest (Jack). Cecily informs her that Ernest (Algernon) has committed to her. And now it turns out that Ernest does not exist, since in one case it is Jack, and in the other it is Algernon, and that the girls are therefore not committed to anyone. In the midst of this confusion of identities, comes the formidable Lady Bracknell, mother of Gwendolyn, and through Miss Prism, ruler of Cecily, the identity dilemma is resolved and everyone gets what they deserve.
