Publisher's Synopsis
Excerpt from The Ibis, 1897, Vol. 3: A Quarterly Journal of Ornithology
ON bringing to a close the third volume of the Seventh Series of 'the Ibis, ' the Editors again wish to offer their best thanks to the friends and correspondents who have favoured them with articles for the present year.
The contributions, it will be observed, are both varied and numerous, and have enabled the Editors to complete a volume which in size almost rivals that of The coloured illustrations have been slightly reduced in number, in view of the expenditure consequent upon the preparation and publication of the new General Index. This Index, which refers to the genera and species mentioned in the Fourth, Fifth, and Sixth Series of 'the Ibis, ' and for the superintendence of which the best thanks of the Union are due to Mr. Osbert Salvin, was issued to the subscribers in April last.
