Publisher's Synopsis

Formerly published as "The Hytreks of Wyoming." These are homestead papers of Joseph, Paul, Stencil, and William Hytrek, homesteaders in Platte County, Wyoming in the early 1900s. These papers record their efforts to satisfy the requirements of the homestead acts. The papers record the farmstead acreages planted in specific crops, the crops harvested, the value of the harvest, stock purchased and raised, fences built, farm buildings constructed and current value for that date, names of neighbor witnesses who supported the homestead claim, Stencil's military record of service during World War I, and Joseph's extra work to prove up a Stock-Raising Claim that went into investigation for non-compliance. Also included is a cash sale in the 1950s when William Hytrek petitioned the government to free up a piece of government land and sell to him. Included are descendant charts for Paul Hytrek-Victoria Benben, Joseph Hytrek-Gertrude Schumer, and William Hytrek-Anna Krysl. Stencil Hytrek never married. 376 pages.
