Publisher's Synopsis

The House of Atreus is a book that contains three plays written by Aeschylus: Agamemnon, Libation-Bearers, and Furies. The plays are centered around the cursed House of Atreus, a family plagued by violence and tragedy. Agamemnon tells the story of the titular character's return from the Trojan War and his subsequent murder by his wife, Clytemnestra. Libation-Bearers follows the revenge of Agamemnon's children, Orestes and Electra, against their mother for their father's death. The final play, Furies, depicts the trial of Orestes for matricide and his eventual acquittal. The translation and introduction of the plays are provided by E. D. A. Morshead, a British classicist and translator. The book was originally published in 1901.This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
