Publisher's Synopsis

Excerpt from The Home Counties Magazine, 1904, Vol. 6: Devoted to the Topography of London, Middlesex, Essex, Herts, Bucks, Berks, Surrey, and Kent

Crossing the common, on which vast quantities of geese are feeding, and over which that delightful little stream the Tilling bourne scatters itself in the most eccentric manner, forming several of the pools already spoken of, we observe that the cultivation of watercress is a rather important business here, and men, women, and children are busil occupied in gathering, arranging, and packing them for the gondon market; there is also those indis pensable erections, a wheelwright's and blacksmith's shop, with a picturesque grouping of great trunks of trees, carts and waggons under repair, that give so rural a character to the scene.
