Of all the Peers who followed the King, there was only one who refuled to lign this Letter the Earl of Leice/ler; who, after many paufes and delays, whether he had not yet digclted his late depofalrom the Lieutenancy of Ireland, to which the Marquis of Ormond was deputed, and thought the difobligation of it not capable of a reparation, or whether he thought the King's Fortune delperate, and refolved not to facrifice hitnlelfto any popular difpleafure, and not to provoke the Parliament farther than by not. Concurring with them; or whether he had it then in his purpofe to be found in their Quarters as lhortly after he was did in the end pofitivcly reiule to lub fcribe the Letter; and thereby was the occalion of a mifchiefhe did not intend. For both their Majellies, in their fecretpurpole, had deligned him to fucceed the Marquis of Heft/0rd in the Government of the Prince; for which he wbuld have been very proper.
