This is the story of Western Glow Guernseys. A Guernsey herd in Bow, Washington that bred and developed many All Americans and Class Leaders for Production. The breeding program developed by Ben and Jake Friedrichs influenced the Guernsey breed across the United States and Canada. Cattle where sold to gentlemen farmers and dairymen including W.E.Boeing. Western Glow Butterfat Maryann was sold in Chicago in 1946 after being flown by plane to Chicago on United Airlines. She sold for $14,600.00 a record transaction for the times. The philosophy and strategy of the breeding program is explained with pictures and pedigrees of the key individuals.
