It is said by many that Anunndpal did not abdicate in favour of his relation Pirtheeraj, but was ousted by him. It would appear that Annundpal had to perform a religious pilgrimage to some place of worship near Benares, and on his departure with a very few number of his retinne made over his throne, fort, treasure and arms.
