Publisher's Synopsis
The girl Gypsie lives with her parents an unconventional Bohemian life. It is set in the secluded village of Montauk at the tip of Long Island knowing Nature's forces while founded upon spiritual endeavors seeking the truth of life. The days are permeated by the study of ancient spiritual teachings of the world touching elemental forces, Wiccan wisdom, Buddhism, Hinduism, Kabbalah, as well as Shamanism or Norse Mythology, enriched here and there by the latest scientific findings. These spiritual theories entail the belief, that one's Self is mirrored in the Universe according to the saying 'as above, so below'. The symbol of a Tree of Life is essential. And it also entails the conviction, that all is consciousness, with The Light as the primal source. It is then one own's mind with its conscious streams of thoughts, desires, imaginations, judgments, or emotional turmoil, which veils the Light, while simultaneously creating and fashioning one's life. In other words, a mind's specific alignment implies a specific life, according to the law of Karma, of 'cause and effect'. One experiences what one creates. Life is like a snake biting its own tail. Therefore, the credo must be 'Know Thyself'. Only if you know the mind's realms, the workings and the means of consciousness, will you understand life, and can then take control, to ultimately achieve enlightenment. In their eyes a daily consecration is necessary to take full responsibility in life and to continuously work with the mind entailing studies, meditations, dream journeys, and critical and honest self-analysis.Taken along by her parents' life approach, Gypsie's knowledge of ancient wisdom about the mind and life grows quickly. Simultaneously though, set on this path to know her Self, she is confronted by her mind's complex mysteries of hidden and forgotten realms, eventually revealing her alter ego 'The Gypspirit'. Soon she realizes, that the process of 'knowing thyself' provokes a Hero's Journey, where not only this inner unknown terrain, but shadows have to be faced. Fortunately, the same spiritual teachings which guided her onto this path give her the essential tools and insights to overcome any obstacles and proceed. This book (book 1 of 'The Gypspirit Trilogy') follows the first twelve years of Gypsie and her parents. The book is structured as following, so that it can be used for reference work with spiritual keywords and summaries. This structure is further reflected and illustrated in Gypsie's artistic creation of her Book of Light and Shadows. This diary-style gives the reader a very subjective and unique insight into this spiritual endeavor. It is the ultimate invitation not only to witness, but to put oneself into Gypsie's self-empowering spiritual journey. A Hero's Journey which evokes visions of inner worlds, reveals past lives in dreams, a mysterious symbol of light, and a power animal.
