The humble Gogen puzzle is a simple little thing that you can solve on a short bus journey but we'll have none of that here - there is a dark side, a very dark side and we are not even talking about an evil twin. There are a number of additional types of puzzle - the Uber-Gogen (of which this book contains 25), the Ultra-Gogen (of which this book also contains 25) and just when you thought it was all getting a bit difficult, the Hyper-Gogen puzzle. Gone are all of those comforting real words, the mass of anchor squares, the repeated letter bonds that real words insist upon having and being sort of confident that the Q and U were likely to be close to each other - all you have left is logic. Further to this - and what this book is about - is the Golden Gogen of which there are 100 puzzles making 150 in all. With the Golden Gogen, the layout is designed manually and the minimum number of clue cells is now just one. Like the HyperGogen+, there is also a long word to find hidden amongst the mayhem that is the board. These puzzles are truly difficult, an ideal gift suitable for any puzzle addict who is a cut above the rest and has a lot of time on their hands. The book consists of 25 each of Uber- and UltraGogens, graded within each group with the not quite so difficult puzzles coming first to lull you into a false sense of security whilst allowing you to develop some strategies - what you learn from one group of puzzles, you can use on the next as they are all transferable skills.
