Publisher's Synopsis
Grey is trapped in an existence he hates and wants an end to it. Forced to take treacherous journeys between the same arrival and departure points has worn him down. Everywhere he visits, society is riven by conflict where those responsible want him out of the way. Which isn't a good idea with someone like Grey. The self-obsessed Tzar is no different. He wants the man who threatens his grand plan dead. And nothing will stop him from seeing it through.
To make matters worse, Grey is being followed by a belligerent, foul-mouthed girl. She wants his help, but taking responsibility for anyone but himself is unthinkable... and dangerous.
Jen has other ideas. Sure, his capacity for violence and the weird way he senses trouble is scary. But so are the men hunting her. Not that she knows the extent of their plans. Grey does, and he couldn't care less.
To survive, they must navigate a country torn apart by a cataclysmic event, all to find answers neither may be ready for.
