Publisher's Synopsis
I again waited many years until the next chapter could begin. Gwenhaël's second instruction had been "If you see them, leave them be. Do not attempt to change the narrative."
In my later years I have had to admit that there was nothing more to be done, at least until this fateful year, if I was to hang on that long. And so, I locked away my memoirs and artefacts, lived the life of a retired army sergeant, and watched a whole lot of TV. The fact that I have managed such longevity is a mystery.
Perhaps I am living the lives that others would have wished for themselves. Perhaps I will not be allowed rest until their stories have been fully told or completed. In any case who wants to die? Not I.
