Publisher's Synopsis
Benedict the goblin has a dark heritage he wishes to disown. Out of kindness and compassion, a Bright Spirit endows him with a heart. No goblin previous to him has had one. But is it a gift or a curse? He escapes from his evil family to live free and independently. Benedict builds a home in the Silver Forest where he befriends a chatty, misfit cardinal. Things are fine until he falls in love with Ilena, the daughter of a wealthy miser, and she with him. The cardinal becomes jealous and enlists the services of a wandering minstrel who possesses sinister magic of his own. What follows are moral complications that will result in love redeemed, or love destroyed. Either way, a life must be sacrificed.
