Originally published in Germany, this volume contains contributions to the 1988 symposium sponsored by the City of Nuernberg to investigate the behaviour of ordinary Germans towards the Jews during the Third Reich. It is divided into two parts: eyewitness reports by Jews, half-Jews and non-Jews of events in Nuernberg, particularly during "Reichskristallnacht" on November 9, 1938, and analyses of Third Reich policies, behaviour and events by experts in the field.
