The Escorts own a small ranch which has never been anything more than a very poor concern. Nevertheless, someone coverts this property and offers are made for it by an agent, though old man Escort is stubborn and refuses to deal. Obviously there is a tricky and deep mystery somewhere in the background. Paul Escort, only son, young and vigorous, stands by his father as the clouds gather round and the storm bursts.
