Eliora was the first of her kind; a young woman created on the unblemished island of Tradgard. Her world was one which had not yet been wrought with suffering, disease, fear, or pain. Animals lived in perfect harmony with humans, creation flawless and free from blemish. One day, Tradgard is exposed to a stranger; one who brings with him atrocities to the island, and a vicious unraveling of Eliora's world begins.
As the Gardians suffer the consequences of the new evil, they see life through a lens that is foreign and confusing. Their King demands they battle these outside forces in order to preserve their innocence. He chooses Eliora to command the rebellion. She soon discovers the root of these new evils; an entirely different world, the island of Myrkur, where her most horrifying nightmares become a reality. Can this young woman reconcile the truth and save her people, or will the Gardians fall victim to the past? "A terrifying growl escalated behind Eliora and, instinctively, she clutched onto the bow in her hand and swung around, shoving the makeshift weapon powerfully into the chest of the bear. The mighty animal wailed and lunged forward towards her, scratching her across the neck with razor-sharp claws. Eliora opened her arms wide and ran towards the bear with all her might until they found themselves on the ground, the bow still protruding out from the chest of the enormous beast. Leaping up instantly, she grabbed the nearest and largest rock and used it to plunge the bow deeper into the writhing animal. With each blow, she cried out, 'Forgive me! Forgive me!' Her tears flowed down onto the perishing creature. 'You left me no choice! I must! Please, forgive me!'"
