The recipient was a Jewish patron of the arts best remembered for his friendship with Augustus and Gwen John.Eliot reviewed the present work in the Nation & Athenaeum and, though responding warmly to the influence of T.E. Hulme and Wyndham Lewis, found Rodker's prognosis wanting in its perspective.
