Publisher's Synopsis
This medium-term analysis of Asia's part in the world economy draws upon two recent studies of possible international developments---the OECD's World in 2020, which was largely written and wholly coordinated by the Development Centre, and the Asian Development Bank's Emerging Asia: Changes and Challenges---and the political agendas of the countries of the region and elsewhere. This book is a calmer look at Asian economies than has usually been produced in the midst of the current frenzy about financial crises among the Asian Tigers, and a somewhat more reassuring one (without being overly optimistic). The technical presentations are well done and reliable, based as they are on in-depth studies.
