Publisher's Synopsis
Pogue and Nada fall in love. They soon marry. They celebrate their honeymoon. by swimming down the river, looking for a place to build their first home. After finding the location of their dreams they soon hop near a large snake. The creature scares them to death. They later discover his name is William. The three of them become very good friends. Not long after they build their home Nada lays a large batch of eggs. Within weeks the newlyweds are the parents to Pogue Jr. and Princess Nada. The new additions to the family actually stay in the water for weeks. They gradually transform from polliwogs to frogs. During this time two more bedrooms are added to the new house. After weeks of waiting the four finally hop off to settle in their home. Not long after William alerts the Frogettes of a terrible danger snooping around outside. The family, as well as William, are facing a life-threatening event. As time passes, Pogue realizes how important it is for the children to receive a 'frog' education. William tells him about a private school not far away. Together they slither and hop down to the school. There, they meet with the headmistress. Pogue immediately enrolls them in the school. Their first day of school, Princess Nada faces some trouble with her new teacher, Mr. Hop-Toad, as her face is covered with make-up. Eventually the class starts. Later the young frogs are faced with a great treat as they go outside for recess.The two settle in and Pogue Jr. actually becomes a good student, contrary to what everyone thought he would be. One day, during recess, the two dress down to their bathing suits and jump into the river. All of the frog students are splashing water and having a great time. They all hear, what sounds like, a loud bang from a shotgun. Next, they see a huge bird falling from the sky. It lands, with all of its' force, on Princess Nada. The Princess sinks under the water. Pogue dives to find her. He has no success with his first two dives. Finally, he brings Princess Nada to the surface on his third dive. All of the frogs swim to the scene, look at the Princess, and are shocked as she is not moving.The disaster bells are ringing at the school which draws the attention of Pogue. He heads down to the school and sees all of the frogs gathered in a circle. He heads over and sees his daughter laying lifeless on the wooden platform.
