Publisher's Synopsis
Excerpt from The Form of the Horse: As It Lies Open to Inspection of the Ordinary Observer
IN the commencement of the year 1848, 1 pub lished a series of Letters on the Horse in the columns of the Londonderry Standard. These letters were thrown into a connected form in 1851, and some new matter, in the way of ex tracts from the writings of more recent authors, having been added, they were published in a separate volume in the year 1859. The favour able reception which this little work met with, at the hands both of the advanced veterinarians and the public, has induced me to issue a second, enlarged, and improved edition. I may say, as I said before, that the conciseness and simplicity of this work must be its chief recommendation. It is intentionally written in that roughvand ready style, which has the immense advantage of rendering the subject perfectly intelligible to every class of the community.
