Publisher's Synopsis
This revised edition contains many amendments to the first edition, and is now back in print. The English verse translation, with footnotes, is followed by the original French text. The six poems which were banned in 1857 are also included after the main text. The translations remain faithful to the original in both rhyme scheme and syllable count. Charles Baudelaire's 'Les Fleurs du Mal' marked an important turning point in the history of world poetry, providing a crucial link between romanticism and modernism.
