This is a topic-based resource that covers various kinds of writing and is designed to enable children to work towards the Attainment Targets demanded by National Curriculum English at Key Stage 1, Levels 1 to 3. It contains photocopiable worksheets and teacher's notes on developing writing.;The activities in the book aim to enable children to use pictures, symbols or isolated letters, words or phrases to communicate meaning; independently to produce pieces of writing using complete sentences, some of them demarcated with capital letters and full stops or question marks; to structure sequences of real or imagined events coherently in chronological accounts; to write stories showing an understanding of the rudiments of story structure by establishing an opening, characters and one or more events; and to produce simple coherent non-chronological writing.
