Publisher's Synopsis
Oswald Trent is an actor who has never quite made the grade. While on tour in Canada he is taken up by Joey Rossi, who takes him on gambling junkets where Oswald learns how to collect money illicitly. When a mob war breaks out, Oswald flees to London where he sets up in partnership with experienced fence Rufus Whittaker. Meanwhile, Sam Harris and old flame Carrie Newland are looking for Oswald in connection with a jewel robbery, and a hatchet-man from the States is after him. Oswald goes into hiding - but when Sam and Carrie get to him it is too late...
