Publisher's Synopsis
The Federalist Papers is a collection of 85 essays written by Alexander Hamilton, James Madison, and John Jay under the pseudonym ""Publius."" Originally published in newspapers in 1787 and 1788, the essays were written to encourage ratification of the United States Constitution. The essays cover a wide range of topics, including the principles of republican government, the separation of powers, and the importance of a strong central government. The Federalist Papers is considered one of the most important works in American political thought and is still widely read and studied today.THE mode of appointment of the Chief Magistrate of the United States is almost the only part of the system, of any consequence, which has escaped without severe censure, or which has received the slightest mark of approbation from its opponents. The most plausible of these, who has appeared in print, has even deigned to admit that the election of the President is pretty well guarded. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
