Publisher's Synopsis
In the early 1940s times were desperate, and the freedom of Britain hung in the balance. While London burned, the war could seem oddly remote to the ordinary country-dweller, apart from the occasional jettisoned bomb and strafing Messerschmitt. And in out-of-the-way farms and villages life continued much as always. Into this precarious tranquillity arrived the farm dog. No one knew where he came from, and at first he wasn't very welcome. But the mongrel's courage and intelligence soon made him a valued member of the farm family.
