Publisher's Synopsis

Seamus, the ginger cat, lives in a house by the sea. His fondness for food and sleeping play a large part in the story but the book also tells about his mishaps and adventures on one particular day in the summer. He is a likeable rascal who constantly seems to be in trouble with his owner. Cat lovers will identify with the problems and hazards of living with a cat but also with the pleasures. The story is particularly suitable for bedtime reading as it is very gentle and contains no violence.

The character and his "accidents" are based upon the author's real cat but his friends in the book come from the young illustrator's imagination. Laura Murphy is only 12 years old but her pictures bring out the cartoon-like character of the cats to the reader. She has known the real Seamus all her life and the idea for the book stemmed from her frequent drawings of him.

Aoife O'Connor, who is 11 years old, is a gold medallist in Speech and Drama. Her lilting reading of the story enhances its gentle qualities and is sure to send children off to sleep with no problem at all. The book is also intended to be educational as it allows children to follow the story through the pictures and the reading on CD.
