And through untested prototypes risk a possible galactic war with their new found neighbors by presenting them with the so-called safe replacements. Bona Dea and Nayr are also becoming sexually aware, causing confusion and anxiety for Aloja. Adding to her turmoil, her fathers start finding replacements for her mother. Even after all these years, Aloja finds it hard to let go. Adonis will stop at nothing to give Aloja what she wants, including men. He knows she wants him more than anyone else, but if he has to leave her for any length of time, he wants her taken care of.
