Publisher's Synopsis
Peregrino's life is full of twists and turns, as are the lives of his siblings, a litter of four feral dogs. From the time they are born in an immense ravine, full of escarpments, chasms, and steep hills that are inaccessible to humans, they learn that life is extremely dangerous. The dogs struggle to scrape by as they pore through the open-air garbage dump for any source of food and worry about the dangerous crevasses and wide gaps that litter the bottom of the ravine.
When Peregrino's mother abandons him and some of his siblings mysteriously disappear, he goes on a quest to find them. On his journey, he meets a sweet and kind-hearted old woman who happens to be an enlightened soul. She manages to communicate with him that he should beware of an evil spirit that constantly stalks him. When Peregrino and some friends discover a dark, narrow tunnel that serves as a gate to another world, they wish to explore it. At a dangerous crossing called Death's Path, Peregrino meets the evil spirit that constantly stalks him. Soon chaos ensues, and he must discover enlightenment himself.
