Publisher's Synopsis
Two gruesome murders were discovered in the village of Little Payling. The bodies of a farmer and a local builder had been drained of blood. Their necks bore deep wounds, which centred on their jugular veins. When Scotland Yard arrived they made little progress - until Peter Malden became suspicious about his wife Elsie's first husband George Timperley, who had committed suicide. Then Elsie herself died and was buried - but her coffin, like George Timperley's, was found to be empty!
