Two people living in the city of Bethesda are forced to live with such a loss. When Effi learns that her father has chosen to disappear she begins a journey back to Diyu, the walled city of her childhood, to face the world she left behind and learn the truth behind her father's disappearance. When a dead body is discovered in Diyu Bay, it seems like a straightforward case for Detective Juuso Borden who is able to identify the victim from a recent missing persons case. However, the deeper he looks, the more questions arise. His investigation leads him into the dark underworld of night movers, agencies that help people disappear for a price. A straightforward murder case is then complicated by the discovery of another Bethesda hidden by a gateway on the edge of the bay. As Borden closes in on solving the mystery, he faces a choice between his professional duty, and the chance to prevent a tragedy from his past.
