This book provides an overview of the economies of the 48 African countries south of the Sahara set in the context of their geographical region. There is a brief account of the historical and political background of each country, which is followed by a short discussion of the country's economic structure and performance. Then data is provided on economic performance in comparison with regional, African and developed countries norms. Graphs charting the country's performance over the last two decades are given together with forecasts of GNP, prices, exports, imports and external debt.
