This map, in Mercator's projection, uses colour to illustrate the mean altitude of the Earth's solid surface between latitudes 75°N and 75°S. Displayed at a resolution of between 1/12° and 1°, it is effective at highlighting the distribution of globally significant features both on the Earth's surface and within the ocean basins.
