Publisher's Synopsis

Excerpt from The Early History of Woodstock Manor and Its Environs, in Bladon, Hensington, New Woodstock, Blenheim: With Later Notices

The association of the district with the events and characters of English history, must incur some danger of being neglected from the interest which of right belongs to Blenheim. But to unite the past and the present, while it prevents such neglect, may add some thing even here: it may supply fresh subjects for notice in'nelation to its scenes, and people these anew from the recollections of old times. Such a minute ness of detail has been attempted as may satisfy the requirements of a local history, may commemorate the lives of those who have been placed here, and illustrate the course of events and the progress of society, from the incidents which have occurred in the neighbourhood.
