Publisher's Synopsis
An adventure story set in 1840 that confronts modern issues such as: social status, bank robbery, sexuality, unlikely friendships, mystery, and romance.
"You're in danger, Dutchman. Your father didn't leave you with tons of debt. He left you with tons of money he and Albertson walked away with after all those bank robbery cases. Some think your pa had the money. You just have to find it. And you're about to have more company trying to beat you to it."
Robin Van der Kellen arrived in Connecticut, Nov 1839, to settle his late father's debt. As he began wrapping up his father's last law case, prosecuting bank robbers, he missed his life as a prominent Boston lawyer. He had to milk a cow, chop wood, and tend his own horses. He had to fire everyone except the maid who could cook for him. Marie Longuiel, was quick witted, strong, and beautiful. Robin began falling in love with her especially after taking ill and needing care. Would he find the money first? Would he be tempted to keep it?
Constable Poole pointed at Robin's pistol. "Where did you get that British East India Company pistol? You know that thing can get you killed around here. Tell me right now if you're a British spy."
