Publisher's Synopsis
King Charles II of England and Scotland could well have been called the Father of his Country. Although he had no children by his Queen, he recognized 15 illegitimate children by seven different women. This series seeks to trace out the thousands of descendants of those 15 children. Along the way, brief biographical information will be presented of those families featured in each volume. Volume 4 focuses on the descendants from Charles's second son by the infamous Barbara Villiers, Countess of Castlemaine, the Duke of Grafton. Surnamed Fitzroy, meaning son of the King, this family thrives in the male line to this day in both England and Australia. A junior branch of the family has become the Barons of Southampton. Also included here are the Earls of Harrington, who descend from an early female connection .
