Represents a general introduction to the whole outline of the discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls, covering more than 50 years of exploration and analysis of the most ancient biblical manuscripts that have come to light. The archaeological process betwqeen 1949 and 1958 of uncovering the various levels of occupation of the Khirbet Qumran site, the adjacent cemeteries and the area devoted to farming is summarised in one chapter. Dr Trevor devotes the final chapter to his proposed theory for the origin of the Dead Sea Scrolls and the probable importance of the Book of Daniel in the life of the Qumran community.
