A young school boy, Joe Bronson, gets tired of school and leaves home to live a more exciting life working aboard a local yacht, the Dazzler. However, he soon finds himself engaged in illegal acts. Containing some realistic storm scenes, the story parallels Jack's own experiences as an young oyster pirate aboard his own boat, the Razzle Dazzle.
