It is, however, now generally admitted that the absorbents occupy a less prominent position in the development of dropsy; and we regard chie?y the state of the capillaries, especially the venous, and Impediments to the free passage of blood through them, as the most active and intelligible causes of the transudation of the serous elements of the blood into the tissues.
