Publisher's Synopsis

The Council of Justice (1908) by Edgar Wallace - This novel revolves around the council, which includes George Manfred, Leon Gonsalez and Raymond Poiccart, who have recruited a fourth man, Thery, in their campaign to punish wrong-doers who are beyond the reach of the law. The style is more of a thriller than a mystery, involving vigilante who administer justice when the law has failed. English author Richard Horatio Edgar Wallace (1875-1932) left school at 12 and joined the army at 21. He was a war correspondent for Reuters and the Daily Mail and wrote thrillers for extra money. Wallace later moved to Hollywood as a script writer for RKO but died while drafting King Kong. Wallace also wrote screen plays, poetry and historical non-fiction. He sold more than 50 million copies of his work. The Economist describes him as one of the most prolific thriller writers of the 20th century.
