Excerpt from The Constitution of the Republic of Mexico, and of the State of Coahuila and Texas: Containing Also an Abridgement of the Laws of the General and State Governments, Relating to Colonization; With Sundry Other Laws and Documents, Not Before Published, Particularly Relating to Coahuila and Texas
Art. 4, of the laws Of Coahuila and Texas, passed 24th March, 1825, provides, that after a foreigner has made a declaration Of his wish to become a settler in due form, as directed in section 3, and taken on oath to support the Constitution Of the General and State Governments, &c., be is at liberty to designate any vacant land, and the Political Authority will grant it to him, in the same man ner as to a native of the country, to be approved by the Govern ment.
