Publisher's Synopsis

The Congressman is the third short novel in the Sam Goodwin series. Sam, a retired Boston Police Department canine handler has been drafted by the Mayor of Boston to run for a vacant congressional seat when he seeks help for his neighbor. She is being threatened by the Department of Homeland Security, along with other Iraqi refugees, to be forcibly repatriated to make housing available for undocumented immigrants.
Once in Congress, there is an uptick in senior deaths nationwide traced to a homeopathic health supplement. Sam and fellow freshman House members take on the challenge to find the cause. At the center of the mystery is a prominent campaign donor. Sam soon finds himself on the 'outs' with the Speaker of the House.
When an assault on Sam's wife occurs, Maxie, Sam's eighty-pound German Shepherd, takes down the two assailants. The one that is still able to talk provides the FBI with critical information that leads to a 'bought' Congressman.
