Publisher's Synopsis
This is the story of a young boy's struggle for happiness in the urban jungle. His search for identity and independence is thwarted by the over-riding presence of two gangs, The Hammers and the Nails, and their on-going conflict. When the Surfman first appears in the neighbourhood he is greeted with jokes and sneers. But gradually his unusual activities begin to provoke curiosity and, when he finally opens doors to a surreal, surfing paradise, the Hammers and the Nails forget their differences and begin to live out a dream. But how long can it be before reality encroaches on Fantasy?
